On February 25, the day after theGuangdong Provincial High-quality Development Conference, Guangdong officially launched itsComprehensive Lifelong Learning Platform

At the launch event,Hu Jinjun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, Directorof the Publicity Department of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, delivered the keynote announcement. The event was presided over by Chen Xiaojian, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Provincial Civilization Office. Also in attendance were Ni Qian, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Provincial Press and Publication (Copyright) Bureau; Lin Rupeng, Director of the Provincial Department of Education; Du Minqi, Director of the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security; Zhao Hong, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism; and Liu Wenqing, President of the Open University of Guangdong.

The timing of the launch and the high-level arrangement of the ceremony send an extraordinary message.

Why was the keynote announcement delivered by a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Directorofthe ProvincialPublicity Department?

In my view, this sends a powerful signal that goes far beyond the education sector. It signifies that building a comprehensive lifelong learning systemis not merely a departmental task, but a strategic, foundational, and leading project in Guangdong's top-level design.This positioning effectively breaks down departmental barriers, coordinates resources across the province, ensures efficient platform development, and realizes the co-construction and sharing of resources.

Launching the platform on the day after theGuangdong Provincial High-quality Development Conference is also deeply meaningful.

The theme of this year's conference is "Synergistic Development of Manufacturing and Service Industries." As traditional factories upgrade to smart factories, robots operate on production lines, and artificial intelligence reshapes production logic, workers' knowledge structures and skill reserves must evolve in tandem. The Lifelong Learning Platform serves as a "cloud-based refueling station" for millions of workers, providing a ladder for upward mobility—whether for industrial workers upgrading their skills or young people transitioning careers.

"We must have the ambition to strive for the first and never lag behind, and write a new chapter of the times where 'Looking toGuangdong forChinese Modernization,'" Huang Kunming, Party secretary of the Communist Party of China Guangdong Provincial Committee, emphasized at the conference.

Chinese modernization, at its core, is the modernization ofthe people. For Guangdong to continue to take the lead, set an example and shoulder major responsibilities in the country, it must invest in its people, and accelerate the transformation of its huge population into a strong human resource advantage.The Lifelong Learning Platform is a key move in this strategic logic.
